Beaches
The most go-to beach on the island is Mylopotas –at a short distance from Chora– while other nice beaches are Manganari, Gyalos, Kolitsani, Koumbara, Kalamos, Sapounochoma, the beach of Papa, Psathis and Agia Theodoti. Also, there’s a slew of smaller beaches, like Tris Klissies.
Chapels and churches
The island is known for its numerous chapels. Rumour has it that there are some 365 churches and chapels. The renowned one is Panagia Gremiotissa, which towers above Chora, at its highest spot.
Trails
The paths of Ios are part of the history of the place. They were the island’s road network for centuries, while now they are an important element of the island’s tourism. The paths of Ios are located at a relatively low altitude and hiking them does not present any particular difficulty. They are accessible all year round and each season has its own beauties.
